Did you know you can dispute items on your credit report. State the facts, why it's wrong, and ask for it to be removed or corrected. Enclosing a copy of the report or any information that shows it's incorrect is beneficial.
When you mail request it to go certified with the "return receipt requested" for your documentation.
Here is a sample to dispute Credit Errors to the Credit Bureaus from: http://www.consumer.ftc.gov
